Windrock Park, located in East Tennessee, is the largest privately owned off-road park in the country. Get to Know the Trail System – Over 300 miles of trails is a whole lot to take in! We recommend taking a minute to familiarize yourself with the trail system. Windrock Park offers trails for every skill level, so whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or just looking for a leisurely ride to take in the views, there is something for you at Windrock Park. The trails are rated easy, moderate, difficult and extremely difficult and all are marked and color coded. You can purchase a trail map at the General Store or download the Windrock App and have the trail map in the palm of your hand. You can also just ask the friendly faces at the General Store to point you in the right direction. So, get ready and go conquer your next adventure at Windrock Park.
Visit the Windmills – Windrock Park is home to the Buffalo Mountain Windmill Farm. There are 18 windmills and 15 of those are over 256 feet tall with 136 foot blades creating a wingspan of 395 feet. That’s a lot of measurements being thrown at you, but what you need to know is they are massive in size and worth driving up the mountain to see. Direct access to the windmills is off limits, but the road gets you close enough to admire their size and beauty. Have your camera ready because the views at Windrock Park are spectacular!
Windrock’s Lodging Options – Lodging options at Windrock Park continue to grow. Windrock currently has a full service campground, as well as primitive camping sites. They offer cabins, both rustic and deluxe that can accommodate large groups. And one of the newest additions to Windrock Park are yurts. What’s a yurt, you ask? A yurt is a large round structure that merges the worlds of tents and cabins. Be sure to go check them out! The lodging options continue to grow as more cabins and yurts are being built. Windrock also offers an online reservation system, making it very easy and convenient to book your reservations. What’s better than waking up, hopping on your ATV and hitting the trails!
Windrock Bike Park – Did you know inside of Windrock Park is also a mountain bike park? Windrock Bike Park has East Tennessee’s best downhill mountain bike course and some amazing cross country trails as well. Windrock Bike Park is known for its raw, natural terrain. The downhill mountain bike trails offer a wide range of fun for all ability levels. With 550 acres and 9 trails with a 2150’ drop, even if you’re not a biker, it’s worth checking out. You may be lucky enough to see one of the competitions held at Windrock Bike Park each year and catch sight of some very talented world class mountain bikers.
Events at Windrock – There is never a “bad” time to go to Windrock Park, but if you have the opportunity to attend an event or concert, we highly recommend it! Windrock offers multiple events throughout the year. There are guided rides, hill climbing events, jamborees full of mud bogs, haunted trail rides and obstacle courses. Windrock Park also has the Spring Shindig with famous country artists to help get the party started and mud slingin’! One thing to keep in mind if you plan to attend an event at Windrock Park lodging will fill up fast, but don’t worry there are many other lodging options in the area.
